Something of a shot in the dark, after the cygnus wall in NGC 7000, I wanted to image the pelican nebula. At f3.3 in my SCT, ~740mm FL, this 0.4 deg field is somewhere in the neck of the pelican. By chance I have managed to capture some Herbig-Haro objects - a form of 'lucky' imaging?
HH555 is the longer projection (lower centre), a bony finger protruding out of the extensive dust, which hides an active emission region. It is in fact 'a narrow jet of gas and matter, ejected by newly born stars at speeds of several hundred kilometres per second. It collides with nearby gas and dust in the interstellar medium, producing bright shock fronts that glow as the gas is heated by friction while the surrounding gas is excited by the high-energy radiation of nearby hot stars' [

My image may not be that exciting, and the colours are a bit off, but aesthetic; the image would benefit from much more data. There is so much detail to be found in this 'small' area of the sky - happy hunting.
